“Sex and the City” Viewing Party

Now that I’m back, I want to spend as much time as possible with my sisters and cousins, and we managed to all get together for a fun and memorable evening.

We had a “Sex and the City” viewing party, where we each chose our favorite episode to watch and brought “SATC” inspired food. We planned this party very quickly, so if we had more time and resources, we could have really gone all out… but with the full time jobs, mommy duties, and other life responsibilities that we all have going on, I would say that we did a FABULOUS job!

The Food

Hot pink cupcakes decorated with shoes & purses

The shoes & purses are certainly self-explanatory, but the cupcakes are an ode to the episode where Miranda and Carrie sat outside Magnolia Bakery and ate cupcakes. After this episode, the Magnolia Bakery became pretty much infamous.

“Robert said, ‘I love you’ … on a cookie.”

Enough said.

Spaghetti a la puttanesca.

From Season 4, the episode “A ‘Vogue’ Idea,” where Charlotte throws Miranda her baby shower. Miranda wants her to serve fried chicken, and Charlotte insists on making “a lovely puttanesca.” LOL

Fried chicken

Also inspired by “A ‘Vogue’ Idea,” where Miranda wants fried chicken for her baby shower… and also from the Season 4 episode “All That Glitters” where Aiden wants to stay home and eat a bucket of fried chicken. “K period F period C period!”

Chinese food

The girls always eat Chinese food! And the spring rolls were inspired by another Season 4 episode, “Sex and the Country,” where Miranda invites Steve over for Chinese food and a Knicks game because she feels bad that she made him cry about having cancer. When Miranda offers Steve the last spring roll, Steve immediately rejects it because he doesn’t want to be pitied. “You always eat the last spring roll! I’m lucky if I see a spring roll!”

From Costco, not New York, but you get the idea. 😉

Guacamole and chips

Inspired by the “Sex and the City” movie, where Samantha indulges in some guacamole while she watches her neighbor Dante.

The Game

We’re all really into some epic game nights, so I wanted to do something fun and create a game for us while we watched our show. Since a drinking game was out of the question, I created a Sex and the City Bingo! Even though there were 9 players, I created 10 boards, each with various quotations, objects, people, etc. from the show. Like any regular Bingo game, if something on your board came up on the show, then you covered the corresponding square until you got 5 in a row! 🙂

We kept the prizes short and sweet! Winners either won a box of Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix, inspired by THIS hilarious moment:

Another prize was a Bath and Body Works Black Cherry Merlot hand soap! The wine scent just reminded us of Sex and the City. 🙂

My sister also surprised everyone by giving us all SCRUNCHIES!!! Extra points if you understand that reference.

This is one of the Bingo boards that I came up with:

If you want to try out this game for your viewing party, I included the PDF of 10 different boards that I created. Please feel free to download and let me know what you think if you use it for your party! 🙂 (DOWNLOAD: SATCBingo)

We started throwing out ideas throughout the night, suggesting that next we throw a “Friends” or “Clueless” viewing party, so I’m excited to spend some more amazing nights with these fabulous ladies! ❤4261fa30bcd41d02a8e46dd1bd3a6d3a
